Township of North Dumfries

With a rich history dating back to the 1800's, North Dumfries Township is a wealth of heritage and connection with the past. North Dumfries has respected and maintained its landmarks with pride and that honouring of our past now offers travellers a self-guided look into a life forgotten. For those that love to walk outdoors wandering through some of the most beautiful historical sites in the Region, North Dumfries is a dream come true. Take a stroll through the Ayr Walking Tour and the Roseville Walking Tour. Here you will find the story of some of the 20 designated historical landmarks including stately stone houses, log homes, one-room schoolhouses and barns that are recognized and protected under the Ontario Heritage Act.  As well, hiking adventures for all skill levels can be found in any one of the numerous trails located in North Dumfries.

With the rolling hills of the countryside, the ponds and rivers, North Dumfries is the go-to destination for recreation and relaxation.  North Dumfries offers numerous recreation opportunities, community parks and a new state-of-the-art Community Complex.  The new complex boasts an NHL size ice surface, seating for 1000, a walking track, community hall, various multi-purpose rooms, and a 7,000 square foot medical centre.  The outdoor facilities of the new complex include soccer pitches, a walking trail, playground and splash pad.

Visit the beautiful, historic Village of Ayr for a variety of shops and restaurants. Stroll through Centennial Park located in the heart of downtown Ayr.  Mature trees, a pond, gardens and picnic tables make it an ideal spot for a tranquil lunch break.
