All aboard! It’s like taking a trip back through time when riding aboard the historic trains of Waterloo Central Railway.

Traveling along an historic railway line known as the Waterloo Spur, guests will enjoy a scenic trip through the countryside of Waterloo Region.

Choose from a number of different train experiences. The regularly scheduled Day Diesel Trains run seasonally, beginning at the St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market, and continuing into the Village of St. Jacobs as well as the town of Elmira. Enjoy the opportunity to hop off and on the train to shop in unique downtown stores and grab a bite to eat, before returning back to the market station.

A number of specialty train trips and themed rides also happen throughout the year. Experience the excitement of riding one of the last steam engines in operation in Canada on a  long weekend train ride aboard the historic No. 9 Steam Engine. Themed train rides including the Great Train Robbery, Halloween Dress Up rides, and the popular Santa Trains will thrill every member of the family.

The Railway Museum, located in the Village of St. Jacobs, offers an opportunity to learn about the import part the rail system played in Canadian history.

New for Waterloo Central Railway is the Train Store, located in St. Jacobs Outlet Mall. Featuring a large selection of merchandise and gift ideas, tickets for the trains can also be purchased at the store.

For groups looking for a unique event location that’s ‘on the move’, Waterloo Central Railway offers rolling train venues as well as stationary museum venues for events of all kinds. Themed Train Experiences are also offered as group themed experience packages.

Waterloo Central Railway is operated by the Southern Ontario Locomotive Restoration Society (SOLRS), a registered charitable organization operated solely by volunteers.
