Saturday, August 17, 2019 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Each August, the Region of Waterloo International Airport throws open its doors for Aviation Fun Day! A fun-filled, free day of aviation related demonstrations and displays.
Did you know that a Nene 10 engine licensed by Rolls Royce powers the Waterloo Warbirds’ T-33 Mako Shark? Or, that the Region of Waterloo International Airport fire truck holds 5,500 litres of water? This your chance to grab your walking shoes and explore the airport on foot. The fifth annual Aviation Fun Day at the Region of Waterloo International Airport will take place Saturday, August 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Come and learn how the aviation industry works. View demonstrations, displays, aircraft and equipment in four areas of the airport:
See unique and vintage aircraft up close on Apron IV, an area usually restricted to the public.
Meet some of the 300+ people that work behind-the-scenes at the airport every day. Talk to pilots, air traffic controllers and aircraft maintenance engineers. For anyone interested in working in aviation, Aviation Fun Day is a must. It is a great way to meet people working in the industry, and to discover more about job possibilities.
This all age’s event is fun for the entire family.
Instead an admission fee, The Cambridge Self Help Food Bank and The Food Bank of Waterloo Region will accept donations. To date, Aviation Fun Day has collected 9,608 pounds of food and raised $14,793 for local food banks, all to help the one in 20 households in Waterloo Region that needs food assistance.
This event takes place rain or shine. We hope you will join us in 2019 for another fun filled day that helps strengthen our community!
