As its name suggests, Red House is located in a red house in UpTown Waterloo that has been converted into an intimate, relaxed bistro restaurant. Featuring fresh food inspired by quality ingredients, the menu at Red House has dishes to appeal to all tastes. With an emphasis on supporting local, the menu changes daily to incorporate new and seasonal flavours. Fresh salads, inventive starters and entrées featuring beef, duck, curries, pastas and vegetarian dishes are all available. On Tuesdays, bring a friend and share delicious selections from the Tapas menu. Red House also has a kids menu, as well as a decadent dessert menu to finish off with. During the summer months, sit back and enjoy the view of UpTown Waterloo from the outdoor patio with seating for an additional 22 guests. The Red House provides professional hospitality and dining in an intimate setting.
The crafted cocktails at Red House are house made and seasonally influenced. Craft beer enthusiasts will enjoy the local brews that are available on the Red House drink menu. There’s also a full wine list, with over 100 bottles to choose from.
Owner and head chef Dan McCowan grew up in Kitchener. After graduating from the Chef Apprentice program at George Brown College in the summer of 2003, he quickly received his Red Seal Certification. At the age of 23, he became head chef at one of Waterloo Region’s premiere restaurants. Dan received the Ontario Hostelry Institute’s award for top 30 under 30 hospitality professionals 2010. Red House is his first independent restaurant venture, where guests can experience his original cuisine and genuine hospitality.
Red House is open Tuesday to Friday for lunch and dinner, and Saturday for brunch & dinner. Tables are available right up until closing time. Reservations are recommended.
