Christmas in the Village is an annual event in late November in Belmont Village featuring attractions for children and adults. Admission to Christmas in the Village is free, though there is a cost to participate in some of the festival’s features. As part of the event, many local businesses decorate their storefronts with festive holiday decor.
Christmas in the Village includes many fun events, such as horse rides, visits with Santa, and writing letters to Santa. There are also giveaways, with opportunities to win gift cards for various businesses in Belmont Village.
Visitors can also enjoy a pet parade where dogs and cats are dressed in Christmas attire and are paraded proudly through the Village. There is also a silent auction for wreaths that have been created by Belmont Village businesses.
In addition to the events, donations are accepted for the Giving Tuesday Food Drive. Over 30 Belmont Village businesses participate in the food drive, and the initiative raised over 1,000 pounds of food in 2016, along with over $700. The Giving Tuesday Food Drive benefits the Food Bank of Waterloo Region.
Christmas in the Village is organized and run by the Belmont Village Business Improvement Area, a group of local businesses working to improve the area and increase visitors. Some other events held by the Belmont Village Business Improvement Area include Cruise into Belmont and the Belmont Village Market.
