Come and discover Belmont Village – the Heart of Midtown Kitchener!
Belmont Village is home to fine dining, numerous specialty shops and original experiences. Located in the heart of Kitchener, Belmont Village is one of the city’s oldest and most unique shopping districts. Come and enjoy all Belmont Village has to offer!
The area known as Belmont Village began as a depression-era ‘relief’ project to create employment. Men hired onto these work crews installed sewer systems, street lights and paved a three-block stretch of road that was to be the beginning of a convention centre; however, the centre never transpired. This paved area did become a stage for midways, dances, roller-skating and other open-air community events. In 1947, Claude Musselman bought the site from the City of Kitchener for a dollar, and transformed the area into a bustling business district. In 1989, the Belmont Improvement Area (BIA) Board of Management was initiated to promote the businesses in Belmont Village.
Today, beautiful Belmont Village is host to a wide variety of shopping, services and restaurants. It is also host to several community events annually, including the Belmont Village Bestival, Cruise into Belmont Village, and Christmas in the Village.
Parking is plentiful and always free in Belmont Village. Come see what’s up in midtown!
