Artist Concept Statement:
Hannah’s concept for Art Fresco is playful, colourful and bold. It’s a celebration of summer and what the outdoors represents. Her concept aims to bring happiness and joy into everyone’s experience throughout Waterloo Region. The three colours of blue, yellow and green represent the Region of Waterloo emblem, and are paired with pink, orange and red which have been carefully selected to compliment one another.
Reason for Participating in Art Fresco Public Art Project:
The Art Fresco Project presented an opportunity to create public works of art that can be both appreciated and functionally used. Hannah felt that the project was a great way to bring her work to life, and to encourage friends and family to enjoy a picnic together in the Region of Waterloo.
Artist Background:
Hannah’s practice explores the juxtaposition of colours, and the relationship between geometric shapes and line. Exploration of form and colour is omnipresent through her body of work, and experimentation with surface materials to achieve flat planes of colour is central. Hannah limits herself by working with geometric shapes and colour relationships only, which enables intimate studies. Hannah holds a Masters of Art in Contemporary Curating. She has worked as a gallery assistant, curatorial assistant and curated an exhibition for the Manchester (UK) Art Fair in association with Castlefield Gallery.
