We’re coming up to the final long weekend of summer. Labour Day Weekend is full of fun things to do in Waterloo Region: check out our list and find great options for families and friends to enjoy!

Labour Day Weekend in Waterloo Region

1) Snyder’s Family Farm
Opening Saturday, August 31 for the fall season
Opening weekend is Snyder Family Farm’s Princess & Pup Party, along with all the other fun that happens on the farm. Open 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. throughout the weekend (including Labour Day)

2) First Star’s Annual KW End-of-Summer Psychic Fair & Expo
Friday, August 30 through Monday, September 2 at Bingemans
Are you curious about what the future holds for you? Ask one of the many gifted international psychic readers, mediums, clairvoyants, fortune tellers, astrologers and numerologists at the show. Vendors, lectures and demonstrations are included in your admission.

3) Trains, Trains, Trains!
Waterloo Central Railway has several special train rides happening over the long weekend. Choose from their regular Farmer’s Market trains, the Country Train/ Wagon Tour, Rail ‘N Ale, and the Labour Day Steam Train. 4) Grafitti Market Patio Sessions
Friday, August 30 from 5-9 pm
Come kick it with Grafitti Market at their weekly Patio Sessions!
Rotating guest DJ’s spin your favourite tracks while you enjoy amazing food and drinks!

5) Last Weekend of the Summer at Doon Heritage Village
Saturday, August 31 to Sunday, September 2 from 9:30 am – 5 pm daily
This is the last weekend to enjoy Doon Heritage Village before off season hours begin. Includes horse-drawn wagon rides on Sunday and Monday. Sample recipes from the turn of the century at A Taste of 1914 and learn how and what people ate over 100 years ago.

6) Go Fly a Kite at Shade’s Mills
Saturday, August 31 from 1:30-3 pm
Join staff to build and fly your own kite. This program is suitable for adults and school-aged children.

7) Summer Tours and Programs at Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory
Open all weekend including Labour Day
Join a Nature Interpreter for a 20 – 30 minute guided tour to learn more about butterflies, animals and gardens. Drop-in programming includes an outdoor bug hunt, and a scavenger hunt in the conservatory!

8) Old Post Office Light Show
Friday, August 30 – Sunday, September 1st every half hour from 9 pm to 10:30 pm.

9) Waterloo Regional Labour Council Labour Day Picnic
Monday, Sept. 2nd at Waterloo Park from 12-4pm
Join the WRLC for its annual Labour Day Picnic. This family event includes a children’s area and live music. Proceeds raised go to the United Way.

10) Kitchener Rangers FanFest and BBQ
Sunday, September 1 from 10 am – 2 pm
Go Blue and White! The annual Kitchener Rangers Fan Fest and Barbecue takes place at The Aud. It’s part of the Kitchener Rangers 2019 Preseason Showcase running Friday, August 30th- Sunday, September 1st.

11) Final Fridays in UpTown Waterloo
Friday, August 30 from 6-9 pm
Final Fridays showcases art, culture and food in UpTown Waterloo. For a list of participating market vendors check out the website.

12) Communal Bake Day at Schneider Haus National Historic Site
Saturday, August 31 at 2 pm
Community bake ovens were the information hubs of the past! Prepare your bread at home and bring it to bake in their wood-fired bake oven. Visit the Museum and gardens while your bread bakes. Reserve a spot as space is limited.

13) Show and Shine Classic Car Mondays
Monday, September 2 from 6-8:30 pm
It’s a blast from the past with unique classic and special edition cars. Bring family and friends to this free all-ages event for a chance to win great prizes!

14) Big Splash Final Weekend
Open all weekend including Labour Day, Bingemans
Big Splash is the area’s largest water park and offers fun and entertainment for kids of all ages. Spend the day in the heated wave pool, on one of their 11 water slides or in Spray N Play (a splash pad for younger kids).

15) Wellesley Blood Donor Clinic
Monday, September 2 from 5-9 pm
Why not end off your long weekend by giving the Gift of Life? Save a life by donating blood at this special long weekend clinic taking place at the Wellesley Community Centre.

16) Head to a local Farmers’ Market
