The Canadian Brewing Awards 2019 were held May 4th in Toronto during a gala ceremony that was the closing event for the CBA Conference.

Canadian breweries of all sizes are eligible to compete in the 55 style categories to determine the country’s best beers. A Canadian Brewing Award medal is widely recognized as a symbol of Canadian brewing excellence.

Waterloo Region brewers were well represented at the awards, with four local breweries receiving accolades at the ceremony:

  • Red Circle Brewing Co. was awarded Bronze in the American Style India Pale Ale category for its Iron Horse Trail IPA.
  • Abe Erb Brewing Company was awarded Silver in the German Style Kölsch category for its 1857 beer.
  • Four Fathers Brewing Co. received Silver in the American Style India Pale Ale category for its IV010 beer, as well as well as a Bronze in the American-Style Black Ale for its Mhmm, Okay beer.
  • Short Finger Brewing was awarded Silver in the Experimental Beer for its Fargo beer, as well as Gold in the Fruit Beer / Fruit Wheat Beer / Pumpkin Beer category for its Anchor Shoes beer.

Congratulations to our local craft brewers!
