Get ready Harry Potter fans: a magical adventure awaits you aboard the Hogwarts Express this fall when the Magical Wizards Festival and Escape from Spellbound Prison Train happens in Waterloo Region September 8 and 9, 2018!
This 2-day festival immerses fans into a wizarding world filled with interactive shows, potions classes, magic shows, and workshops on how to defend yourself against the Dark Enemy. That skill will be particularly useful as the fun continues for ticket holders on the Hogwarts Express, where a journey to Spellbound Prison reveals two evil wizards are hatching an escape plan. It’s up to the train passengers and the professors on board to help the ministry secretly transport these evil sorcerers to a more secure location to await their trials. Will the mission be successful? Only time will tell!
The festival is hosted by the Waterloo Central Railway, a non-profit organization owned and operated by the Southern Ontario Locomotive Restoration Society (SOLRS). The Magical Wizards Festival and Escape from Spellbound Prison Train will feature SOLRS’s restored No. 9 steam engine, and is the only Canadian Harry Potter festival with a 100 year old running steam train, providing visitors with an authentic Hogwarts experience!
Randy Bird, CEO of Waterloo Central Railway says visitors to this year’s festival can expect even more adventure. “We’ve expanded our Magical Wizard’s Festival train experience this year to be even more exciting! We’re thrilled to present a 2-hour interactive train experience with exclusive entertainment, live music, aerial acts and illusions! Guests will become a part of the show as they enter the dark forces pre-show briefing/training, followed by the onboard train excursion with professors to help save the day!”
All wizards and witches attending the festival are encouraged to dress the part, and come in costume. And, be sure to include time to wander through the merchants of Enchanted Alley with all of their strange and wonderful items!
Tickets for the festival and the train adventures must be purchased in advance, and are sure to sell out quickly. To find out more about the festival, as well as ticket prices and train times, visit www.waterloocentralrailway.com.
