All shows are written and directed exclusively for Grand River Raceway by Tim Clarke of Guelph. Tim is part of the Video Broadcast department at Grand River Raceway, and was there when the musical Murder Mystery concept was born. As a prominent local actor and director, Tim takes the reins on creating each show, carefully researching his characters who are often real life musicians. The storylines are based on this research and historical facts, and include charming renditions of songs that audiences will know and love! And while the shows are scripted, each performance is different thanks to input from the audience.
This year’s lineup includes four brand new productions, as well as two encore performances of previous shows. Rumours: a Fleetwood Mac Murder Mystery, Let it Bleed: a Rolling Stones Murder Mystery, as well as the seasonally themed shows The 27 Club: A Hallowe’en Murder Mystery, and Beach Boys: A Christmas Murder Mystery are new for 2018. There’s also encore runs of The Canadian Folk Explosion and The Wizard of Oz: The Munchkin Murder Mystery. And yes – you’ll be singing along to songs you love in every show, because this is a musical murder mystery after all! Audience members are also encouraged to come in costume to ‘blend in’ with the theme of the show, and could win 2 tickets to another show just for dressing up!
