Although we travel a lot with the blog, sometimes it’s nice to just hop in the car and take an old fashioned road trip every now and then. With lots of great options around the Toronto area, we decided that we’d visit the diverse and developing area of Kitchener-Waterloo, known as part of Canada’s “technology triangle”. Daniel and I packed up some of our family – his husband and my mother, and headed on our way out of town for a weekend of fun.
With plans to spend the weekend exploring the area, we arrived at the Courtyard Marriott Waterloo St. Jacobsto find a beautiful, modern and spotless “home base” in the historical district, just a few minutes’ walk from St. Jacobs Market. Whether you’re travelling for business or pleasure, this hotel has everything you need on site and within the area, to suit your needs. The rooms were well laid out and comfortable, while the hotel itself was absolutely spotless. Oh and there was a constant supply of coffee within the rooms and in the bistro in the lobby. All of the caffeine, all of the time, all of the yes.
Our itinerary for the weekend was set up with all of the best things to do in the area, including taking advantage of the Kultrun World Music Festival, which was held at THEMUSEUM. This funky art space in downtown Kitchener holds events and exhibitions continually throughout the year. As we headed to our first adventure, we found that King Street was closed for the annual “Crusing on King’ classic car event. Surrounded by hundreds of classic cars, we entered THEMUSEUM to experience the sounds of two local artists as part of the opening night of the Kultrun World Music Festival.
