FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 26, 2016                                             PDF Press Release

(CAMBRIDGE, ON) – On Wednesday, September 7, 7:00 – 8:00pm, Idea Exchange welcomes back award-winning Newfoundland native Ian Foster for an evening of stories and folk music at the Queen’s Square location.

Foster is a road worn troubadour with a keen poetic sense and a searcher’s infinite wisdom in his writing, and yet can make you laugh between songs. He writes in a modern folk style and exudes a love of storytelling.

“…a fine example of what a 21st century folk performer should be doing.”

– Bob Mersereau, CBC

Often likened to Canadian songwriting icon Bruce Cockburn in both writing and guitar style, Ian’s music has been described as thoughtful, introspective, cinematic, hopeful, atmospheric, and cathartic by critics and fans alike. He has numerous awards, nominations and co-writes to his credit, including SOCAN Songwriter of the year nominations, Lyric finalist for the International Songwriting Competition (Nashville, TN), and a co-write with Canadian songwriting legend Ron Hynes.

“We’re thrilled to have Ian performing at Queen’s Square”, said Karen Murray-Hopf, cultural programs & special events planner at Idea Exchange. “His intimate live show, with stories and songs intertwined, adds a unique twist to a folk concert that we know is a hit with this community.”

Aroad warrior, Ian spends about half of every year playing shows, festivals and conferences abroad, and regular shows year round in his home province. Ian has toured across North America and Europe, and had his music played on radio internationally. His performances are attractive for audiences of all ages – from school workshops to seniors’ homes, festivals, soft seat theatres, churches, pubs, and house concerts.
