Find out why Waterloo Region is the perfect holiday destination for you and your loved ones.

Township of Wilmot

Wilmot Township is in the heart of the country, and is the living definition of 'small town charm” with its blend of rural and urban living. Restaurants, shopping, recreation, cultural venues and rolling hills are plentiful! But, Wilmot is also proud of its strong connection with its past. Nearly all of the restaurants, retail stores and bed & breakfasts 'live' in historic buildings dating back to the late 19th century. Naturally, each building has its own story to tell, and many have received historic designations. One of Canada's architectural treasures, Castle Kilbride National Historic Site, welcomes visitors from all over the world. A tour through this magnificent 1877 grand home will have you stepping back in time to the lavish Victorian era.

Wilmot Township is home to many festivals and events that draw more than 20,000 out of town visitors. Whether it is the Ontario Mennonite Quilt Relief Sale (the last Friday & Saturday in May), Canada Day, Moparfest - Canada's largest mopar show (August 18th & 19th ), annual Fall Fair (September 13th to 16th), Victoria Day or Strawberry Festival (3rd Saturday in June), or enjoy an exceptional performance with the Community Players or New Hamburg Live… there is something that will entertain and delight you, anytime you visit.

If you are looking for something different to do, consider spending some leisurely time simply wandering through our many towns. Whether it is New Dundee, St. Agatha, Mannheim, Petersburg, Baden, New Hamburg, Haysville or Phillipsburg - there is lots to discover. Wander through our unique shops, see North America's largest working water wheel, take a quiet nature stroll on our walking trails or have a picnic at the Arboretum. Driving and walking tours are also available at Castle Kilbride upon request.  If you are interested in action, bring your golf clubs and try out one of our three premium golf courses, get back to the basics and go camping with your family or canoe the beautiful Nith River. Be sure to visit our new state-of-the-art Wilmot Recreation Complex that boasts two NHL size ice pads, an 8-lane 25 meter FINA regulation lap pool, 2500sf warm water leisure pool featuring a beach entrance, Active Living Centre, Youth Centre, 4-lane indoor walking/running track, community centre and soccer fields. Or just sit back and relax, and take in an entertaining concert held Thursday evenings on the front lawn of Castle Kilbride.
