City of Kitchener

We welcome you to Kitchener. We're innovative, creative, culturally diverse, and we know how to have a good time! In Kitchener, we combine first-rate big-city services and amenities with the welcoming smile and personal touch that has earned us an undisputed reputation as one of the country's friendliest and most livable cities.

As many as 700,000 people from all over the globe come to share in all things German.

You'll find every urban amenity here. From our dynamic nightlife and world-class restaurants to our many family-friendly activities and destinations, Kitchener offers a never-ending list of things to see and do, no matter what the season, or whether you're young, or still young-at-heart.

Each year, Kitchener celebrates its historic German roots in grand scale during Oktoberfest, the largest Bavarian festival outside of Munich, Germany. Here, as many as 700,000 people from all over the globe come to share in all things German.

Throughout the year Kitchener hosts many other major special events including the renowned Kitchener Blues Festival, KidSpark, Word on the Street, Tapestry, KW Multicultural Festival, Christkindl Market and Tooney Tuesdays.

For more than 130 years the Kitchener farmers' market has been a traditional Saturday outing for visitors and residents. At Your Kitchener Market, you'll discover an array of restaurant vendors serving ethnically diverse meals during the week and our thriving farmers' market on Saturday.

If it's the outdoors you prefer, Kitchener offers over 100 kilometres of community trails that are suitable for walking, jogging, bicycling, or even bird watching throughout the year. In winter, skiers and snowboarders of all ages and abilities can make themselves at home on the local ski club or families can have fun at the tube park or skating on the outdoor rink at City Hall.

In the summer, there are a wide variety of attractions and events to choose from. As well, two picturesque, municipally-owned 18-hole golf courses offer superior playing conditions and a full range of services from spring through fall.

No matter what time of the year, you can always check out what's happening at The Aud, southwestern Ontario's premier sports and entertainment venue and home to the Kitchener Rangers Junior A hockey team.
