There is a lot of coffee to be sipped in Waterloo Region. In fact, according to Graham Braun of Monigram Coffee Roasters in Galt, Cambridge, Waterloo Region is a coffee king in many respects.
“The thing about trains… it doesn’t matter where they’re going. What matters is deciding to get on.” – THE POLAR EXPRESS ™
It may be months until Christmas, but in Waterloo Region the elves at Waterloo Central Railway are already busy putting the wheels in motion for this year’s THE POLAR EXPRESS ™ Train Ride.
Beginning November 15th, 2018, the story of a boy who goes on a magical train ride and receives a special gift from Santa comes to life when the train departs 50 Isabella Street in St. Jacobs, Ontario for a one hour round-trip journey to the North Pole.
“Due to the rapid sell out last year, we’ve expanded THE POLAR EXPRESS ™ Train Ride experience this year to allow more people to enjoy it,” says Randy Bird, CEO of Waterloo Central Railway. “We’re excited to present this one-hour round-trip journey to the North Pole where passengers can experience the magic of THE POLAR EXPRESS ™ story in real life.”
The fun begins as soon as passengers board the vintage locomotives that are transformed into THE POLAR EXPRESS ™ Train Ride. Hot chocolate and treats are served to passengers while they read along with the story of The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg. Once the train arrives at the North Pole, passengers are greeted by Santa and his helpers, who present each passenger with their first gift of Christmas – a silver sleigh bell. As the train departs for the return trip to St. Jacobs, the lively on board crew will lead passengers as they sing Christmas carols. Adding to the fun, families are encouraged to wear their pajamas for the ride!
