If you’re looking for something to do in Waterloo Region this fall, Bingemans’ lineup is full of fun from a “Kool” Oktoberfest experience to something more eerie and macabre!
A short drive into the countryside takes you through some of the rich farmland of Waterloo Region – some of the very best in the province – and into the town of Wellesley. There, you’ll find Schmidtsville Restaurant and Gift Shop.
The original name of the settlement of Wellesley was Schmidtsville, which changed in the 1850s. The restaurant itself opened in 1989, although it was originally a general store in the 1880s.
In the nearly three decades of serving customers, the Schmidtsville has built a considerable following that regularly fills the surprisingly large dining room. The menu features an all-day breakfast with classics like morning scrambles, along with what they call Schmidtsville Benedicts. The family eatery prints a monthly take-home calendar of daily specials, so you can find the day you’d like to enjoy schnitzel, country-fried chicken, liver and onions or lemon-dill salmon, and much more.
Make sure you keep your fork, as they might say: there’s pie. Homemade pie!
